GENERAL WILLIS CARVER
WILLIS CARVER was said to be from Beloit, Kansas, born in 1868. His Mom was a professonial fat lady, Madame Carver.  It is extrememly rare that parent and child were exhibited as two different kinds of freaks.  The only other case I can think of is bearded lady Sidonia Debarcsy and her midget son Nicu.  In 1882 Willis was said to have married a 456lb lady and it is my guess that at one time Mother and son were exhibited as husband and wife. M. Mitchell in his book "Monsters of the Gilded Age" said that Willis was never photographed alone but these pics show otherwise.
Little Willis Carver died in July 1898.
Mr. Mitchell, mentioned previously, had M.D.s  look at pics of Willis. Based on his short arms, swayback and small face their educated guess was that he was probably a Russell-Silver dwarf. Although not a doctor, I would have to disagree. The characteristics of Russell-Silver Syndrome do not describe Willis at all.
This was said to be a photo of Willis.
If so,  he sure looks different at this age.
