TINY LaVONDA
Tiny LaVonda was once billed as "Princess LaVonda, who is half lady, half baby". Later, showman Ward Hall would use the same pitch to advertise Dolly Regan.
LaVonda was married to Alva Evans who was below average in height and a professional clown.  Dan Mannix, author and former sword-swallower, who knew the couple said "they were a devoted couple, Alva pushing his tiny wife everywhere in a little wheelchair. Both of them were fine people and everyone who knew them liked and admired the spunky couple."

Alva and LaVonda Evans.  Alva was from Missouri and LaVonda from Nebraska. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah at one time.  Alva was 29 years her senior!
Two years later, in late Feb 1951, another news item appeared:
Louisiana, Mo., (AP)  -  Mrs. Lavonda Evans, who claims she is "the smallest woman in the world," is expecting a baby in mid-April.
The 31-year old woman is only about two feet tall.  Her husband, Alva, 59, is about four feet in height. They live at nearby Bowling Green and were with the Clyde Beatty circus last year.
Dr. G.L. Bilyea, Mrs. Evans' physician, said the baby will be delivered at a hospital in a ceasarian operation."

Unfortunately, the couple's child was born three weeks prematurely, weighing less than four pounds. Their baby had respiratory problems and was dutifully placed in an incubator but survived only a few days.
As evidenced by the photo to the left, LaVonda continued on in show business at least till 1958
.
Fifty-five years after LaVonda's attempt to have a baby this tiny Mom, Eloysa Vasquez, successfullly delivered a child athough she had osteogenesis imperfecta. OI  may have been LaVonda's medical conditon.

Here's the story.
A 1949 news article, talking about the attractions at the local fair, mentions "Tiny La Vonda, the world's smallest lady, who the outside talker described as "half a lady and half a child."  The article went on to say:
"Tiny tells the crowd in a baby voice that she wears shoes size six and a half baby size and then shows her fully formed hands.  She is helpless at 28 years, 21 pounds and 15 inches."
Although not ID'd, I believe this to be LaVonda in her latter years with her devoted Spaniel. Author's collection
