| I don't know why Ralph's pitchcard says he was born in New York but he was actually born in Montpelier, Vermont in 1888. I believe Ralph started in the business when he was in his 20's and continued on for the next 30 years. Ralph was a pretty tall guy and was living in Chicago when he registered for the draft in 1917. |
| Krooner Rites Held in Tampa TAMPA, June 7. - Numerous show folks attended Wednesday funeral services for Ralph Albert Krooner, known professionally as Ralph the Elephant Man and a member of Glen Porter's World's Museum Side Show, who died June 1 in St. Joseph's Hosital here. Among those attending requiem mass, sung by Rev. Louis J. Mulry at Sacred Heart Church here, were Nat Rodgers, Mr. and Mrs. John Dolan, Mrs. Abram Kenter, Mrs. Al Tomaini, Mr. and Mrs H. W. Parsley and Joe Early. Pallbearers were Steven Pelak, Al Morin, Gean Berni, John Dolan, Babe Antuono and Ed Lowe. Krooner was a member of the Greater Tampa Showmen's Association and the Pacific Coast Showmen's Association. Floral pieces were received from those organizations, as well as from Mr. and Mrs. Tomaini, personnel of the World's Museum, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Porter and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie LeMay. Surviving Krooner is a sister, Mrs. Mabel G. Hawksley, Daytona Beach, Fla. Interment took place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Tampa. |
