In his later years he claimed that he had been in show business all his life, even as an infant, but as will be seen later Denis was never one to be afraid of stretching the truth if he thought it made for a better story.
What we do know is that Denis did start out very young along with his diminutive sister Marguerite as "Les Nains Bearnais".
