An exceptional duo were Chauncy Royse Morlan and Annie Bell. At age 14 and 12, respectively, they began in the show business and for eight years remained so until fate brought them together whilst Chauncy was travelling with Adam Forepaugh's circus.
In 1892 the large couple were married amidst much fanfare at Huber's Museum in New York. The pair were such a huge attraction that for the following six weeks the couple played to SRO crowds. In the ensuing years the two toured with the Barnum & Bailey Circus in Europe. Upon returning to the States they continued to travel as the fattest married couple in the world "with a combined weight of 912 pounds".
During the off season the Morlans returned to their home in Indianapolis, Indiana - Chauncy's home state. It was Chauncey's dream to tour only till he earned enough money to quit the business and then permanently retire to that city with his wife.
