GABRIEL MONJANE
	Gabriel Estavao Monjane was born in 1944 in Mozambique, a country on the east coast of southern Africa. If his name has a Spanish ring to it, it is because Mozambique was for many years under Portuguese control. It appears Monjane came to the attention of the world around 1964 when war was begun to end the Portuguese regime.    Monjane was one of the last of the Show-Giants, touring with the Boswell-Wilkie Circus in the '70's and appearing at the Grona Lund Tivoli, Stockholm's famous amusement park.    In 1986 he travelled to Japan to appear on a Tokyo TV show with the worlds heaviest man - 875 pound Albert Pernitach from Austria.    Gabriel died in 1990 en route to a hospital after falling at his home in Maputo, Mozambique.  His head had struck a concrete floor. He was just on his way to each lunch with family.  He was only 44 years old.
