| Martin's stage name came from the (reported) fact that he was born in Finland though he resided in West Frankfurt, Illinois. He was advertised as being 720 lbs and started in the business in 1935. While appearing at Cass Lake, Minnesota with the McKee Shows in 1946 he suffered a heart attack. He was rushed by ambulance to the nearby town of Bemidji but was dead on arrival. His obituary said that he was survived by a 500 lb brother named Armon. |
