ABOUT  FACE
the one and only
As you can see, this is the smallest list of people on this website. Perhaps because very few people are born with or develop a condition involving the face and fewer still would ever consider getting up on a stage, willingly, to be stared at, mocked or ridiculed. For this reason I have the most respect and empathy (not pity) for the performers on this list.

"We are social animals, and the face is important to who we are as human beings." - Dr. John Barker, director of plastic surgery research at the University of Louisville.

"(The face) is the most immediate outlet for your emotions, expressing thoughts and reactions that are beyond words. It is usually the first thing others notice about you, profoundly influencing both how they perceive you and how you perceive yourself. Many people are generally pleased with their faces, but for those who are not, their faces can be the source of frustration and self-consciousness." - Cosmetic Surgery Institute
"The ugly is very appealing to man.... It’s instinct. One shrinks from the ugly, yet wants to look at it. There’s a devilish fascination in it. We extract pleasure from horror."
