| "The greatest curiosity of the age is at the musee this week. This strange caprice of nature is in the person of Miss Bell Carter, a handsome and modest young lady with a horse's mane growing along the spinal column. This remarkable phenomenon made its appearance when the lady was 5 years old, and has puzzled the brains of many men of science to account for. They could not do so, and were compelled to let the case rest as a most wonderful lapsus naturae. - Nov 1891 |
